A website designed and built by Flux offers very high baseline protection, but upgrading your backup and security services can further reduce the chances of your website being hacked. Our standard and premium packages can also reduce the cost of repair if your website experiences a rare hacking event.
Due to it being widely adopted and user-friendly, WordPress is Flux’s content management system (CMS) of choice. Most of our clients are already familiar with the WordPress Dashboard, and using the most popular CMS on the planet makes it easy to find another developer to help (should you need to in the future).
Similarly, due to its popularity, WordPress is a common target of website hackers and spam bots. We believe the pros of using WordPress far outweigh the cons—and maintained well, your WordPress website will continue to assist your organisation with communication for many years to come.

Website Maintenance
WordPress is the biggest, most flexible and most widely used website content management system (CMS) on the planet. While there is an endless list of benefits to using WordPress, its popularity also means it is often the target of website hackers.
All our newly developed websites include some excellent security features. Now we want to give all our customers the opportunity to upgrade their backup and security services.
Backups
Backups are essential for restoring your website quickly should it become compromised by a hacking event or software malfunction of any kind. We can easily restore a previously backed up version of the website which immediately removes the infected file(s) and restores the website to its previous health.
Our default hosting package includes daily backups for the last 30 days, stored on the hosting server.
Upgrades are designed to store more backups on a third party server for extra peace of mind. This includes unlimited weekly and monthly backups saved to our Google Drive account for the active duration of your website.
Updates
WordPress is a modular platform which consists of:
- Core software files
- Plugin software files
- Themes files
All of which are written using a variety of different coding languages.
The code in these files is constantly updated by its authors to improve security, speed and functionality.
When we update your site, we check to see if there are newer versions of this software. If so, we determine whether an upgrade to this new software is beneficial or not for our customers. If we determine that it is, we run an additional backup process (unless a very recent backup is already on file) and then update the software to the newer version.
We recommend updates are conducted regularly—at least once per year—in order to keep all software up-to-date.
Security
All of the above can be considered different elements of keeping your website secure, but the final ingredient is to use a firewall plugin to block access attempts and scan for security breaches.
An additional firewall identifies and blocks most malicious traffic, while a security scanner checks core files, themes and plugins for malware, bad URLs, backdoors, SEO spam, malicious redirects and code injections.
Keeping this security plugin up-to-date regularly ensures you have the highest level of protection available against the latest hacking technologies.
Website Guarantee
Your Flux built website comes with a 12 month guarantee.
During this period, your website is guaranteed to look acceptable and do all the things someone would normally expect it to do within the agreed scope of works. Should your website not live up to this guarantee, Flux will repair the website free of charge. This is on the condition you don’t misuse your website of course!
Extending your website guarantee
You can extend this website guarantee past the initial 12 month period, up to a maximum of 5 years total, by taking up a Standard or Premium maintenance plan.

The upgrades will not guarantee your website can’t be hacked, but they will certainly reduce the chances of it happening and could decrease the cost of rectification should your website become infected.
